Canavese

LANDSCAPE
The landscape surrounding Settimo Rottaro is quite varied: from green hills and plains, lakes and mountains, up to the Gran Paradiso National Park, with Edelweiss flowers, rock whistlers, rock goats and chamois.

ART and CULTURE
Museums, baroque churches and ancient castles.
The Canavese area was once land of famous poets, writers, playwriters, ministers - such as Guido Gozzano, Giuseppe Giacosa, Costantino Nigra, Salvator Gotta, Massimo D'Azeglio, Luigi Palma di Cesnola - and businessmen like Camillo and Adriano Olivetti.

MYTHS AND LEGENDS
Canavese is the background of Ypo's legend, called the "landless queen" as she owned only a big lake, that 3.500 years ago, during the Ice Age, was covering the whole Canavese area. Among the main local myths and legends there are witches, Druids and Celts.

FOLKLORE & TRADITIONS: Carnivals, food festivals and village fairs.
